Skip the Rush is a Dutch band and I got in contact with these guys by reviewing their promos. Right now they are getting bigger and bigger and to say thank you to everybody they were inviting several people to their show. Of course they also invited Metalrage to come to their show. And last Wednesday I was going to the Melkweg in Amsterdam to watch them play.

When they started to play the energy immediately flowed into the audience. They call their own style NeuroRock and I sure dig this genre. The vocals are live just as great as on their two EP’s. The rest of the members are jumping around the stage, except for one guy. He is just standing at the back of the stage playing his instrument awesome but his stage act is poor. The set consisted out of old song and songs which are on their latest EP ‘Chaperone’. The first and last time I saw them was in my favorite bar and it was their first time there as well. Back then I could feel the tension and at this show they were playing a relaxed and great set. If you want to see the Dutch future in rock; go out and see this band live, they are marvellous!

And then the headlining band, normally this band is better than the supporting band but sometimes there are exceptions. This night was one of them. Color of Fire is standard stupid top-40 pop punk and rock mixed together in a dozen of songs. The band members are all wearing the same clothes and have the same haircut. The lead singer was shouting to the audience he loved the reaction here because the rest of the world hated them. I think if he knew the average age of the audience he would be amazed, I guess it isn’t above 15 and most of them were female obvious.
 
This night sure was a great night. Even if the music isn’t what you expect it still can be a great night and when you talk with an amazing band like Skip The Rush it is great that a band like this can be so normal. I hope to see them in the south of the Netherlands again soon!
