The band to get the evening started was the infamous Human Alert from Amsterdam. They played some kind of punkrock with Mr. Bungle-like song structures. Their show is simply ridiculous, having two vocalists dressed up as mime-players and a guitarist that looks like he got kicked out of Turbonegro. They kept talking bullshit between the songs, and during the songs, but they also played a trombone and a horn, which enhanced the Mr. Bungle feel if you look at that bands first album. I guess they are professional entertainers with a musical background that manage to put on a tight show with a whole lot of nonsense revolving around it. If you get the chance to see them, do yourself a favour and go!

 

The second band was unknown to me until recently when I was taking a shit and there was this music magazine from my roommate where there was an interview with them. From that I concluded that Feverdream make emo rock stuff. Completely not my cup of tea, so I did my best not to see too much of the show. What I did see was pretty good and original, even touching the boundaries of noise rock on occasions, but never really grabbing me by the balls. But that’s entirely personal I guess.

  

The band I was really curious about was Astrosoniq, known for their space stoner rock music. Although only a handful of people had shown up today, and even less were left to attend their show, they played a very good set that convinced me of the quality in this band. Going from spacey soundscapes to rocking heavy stoner riffs, they kept my attention throughout the show. The guitarist had three different guitars, of which two (one being a Gibson I recall) sounding fucking awesome. The vocalist was not always that present, but he possessed a good voice that suited the music excellent. The bassist also took some vocal duties upon him, which he handled with no problems at all. Also there was some good intense drumming and a guy that added samples and effects, to increase the spacey feel even more. This indeed was a very good show, unfortunately almost nobody was there to witness it. Luckily that’s not the case coming Thursday, when they open up for Stone Sour in 013. Very curious to how they will be then, knowing that the big stage in 013 usually has a horrible sound.
