November 02nd was printed in my memory for quite a while. The reason; Stone Sour. I was eager to see these guys playing again and therefore I travelled quite a while to get to the 013.
Astrosoniq
The first band on stage carries the name Astrosoniq and they have their roots in Oss (Netherlands). Although one member actually lives in Tilburg. Lately I have heard the name Astrosoniq everywhere and every single time I wanted to go and see them I was already occupied. Tonight would be the first time for me. Too bad I didn't really like the sound of this band. Though, the show element is good and the performance was good as well. The music is a mix of classic rock acts with modern technology. Even the guest performance of Robbert Jan (The Liszt) was nice to see.
Overall they did a good job but like the last time Stone Sour was playing 013 together with the Dutch rock formation F33l3r, it wasn't something to satisfy the present audience. I want to see this guys play in a venue in which the band can give a better representation of themselves. Let's hope I haven't got another concert then! [Review by Buzzin Hornet]
Stone Sour
Stone Sour I hadn’t seen in a long time. This night I was actually gonna see them for the second time so I was really looking forward to it. Especially because they released a great album a couple of months ago. Of course they opened the show with 30/30-150 and immediately created a good atmosphere with enthusiastic people all over the place. Fortunately the sound was quite alright in the 013 which resulted in a clear sound for all the instruments. Corey’s voice was definitely good and especially compared to the last couple of times I saw him singing (with Slipknot that was) he did a good job. Good to see that also drummer Roy Mayorga didn’t have any troubles playing all the stuff. The solos were all performed flawless but I think it’s a pity that guitarist Josh Rand can’t play ‘em blindly. He’s always really focussed on his guitar which gives a bit of an uncertain look. Well, what the heck?! The show was great and consisted of old and new material. All outbalanced perfectly but all in all I think the show could have been somewhat longer. 70 minutes of playing time is really too damn short for this band. Luckily enough they’ll come back really soon (as we may believe what frontman Corey Taylor told us). Other songs that passed by were ‘Get Inside’, ‘Reborn’, ‘Come What(ever) May’, ‘Bother’, ‘Through Glass’, ‘Tumult’ and some other songs I can’t recall right now. Anyway, we wanted a great show, we got a great show. The only thing I’d like to see a change in next time is the duration of the show. A little longer won’t hurt us guys! [Review by BoEk] |
