Impaled Nazarene - Absolutely fucking nothing

Black-thrash metal. Anti-Christianity. Impaled Nazarene. The finnish black metallers released their latest album, Manifest, and Metalrage.com got the opportunity to ask vocalist Mika Luttinen some questions. Angry, funny and dead-serious. Read and enjoy.

Impaled Nazarene

Impaled Nazarene’s already there for a good 17 years and you’ve just released your new studio album Manifest. Can you give a rough sketch of what it sounds like?
"More dynamic, better produced, better played. Slow shit, fast shit, rocking shit. Lots of different elements and all this packed in a very fucking cool lay-out."

One of the samples I’ve heard on your Myspace page is called The Antichrist Files. Is Impaled Nazarene truly anti-religion?
"We have always been and we shall always be. It is unbelievable that people still, in this modern age, follow something that’s bullshit. That is the sheep mentality."

What do you think of the following statement: “black metal is only then black metal when it contains anti-Christian lyrics, a lot of distorted noise and vocal sounds that come near of those of a going-to-be freshly-skewered pig”.
"I have no opinion about this. Others dig that, I dig different shit."

What, according to you, should be the main reason for purchasing Manifest?
"To show your true support to the best and greatest band on this planet, of course. It should be noted too, that owning Manifest in your CD collection serves as a proof of your heterosexuality."

Of course there are a lot of Dutch fans that can’t wait to see you guys play the new material live. Will you be around to spit on Dutch soil anytime soon?
"I have no idea, there is no European tour coming up so we need to see when we can score some festivals down there."

Lots of mainstream artists don’t like it one bit when their albums are downloaded by music fans. What is Impaled Nazarene’s vision on music downloads and do you download music yourself?
"It does not matter what our opinion is, people will download it anyway. We can only hope that there are people who continue buying the actual product."

So… when’s the first DVD going to hit the stores?
"Not in the near future. Maybe one or two studio albums and then maybe it is time to think about this. Making miserable sounding and looking DVDs is way too trendy at the moment. When we do our DVD, we will do it with class. I don´t wanna put out some shit quality product for fans."

A good friend of mine’s last name is Slutter (for real!). Seeing that your artist name is Sluti666, what would you give to have a last name like that?
"Cool name, that is true. But I would not give anything, I am happy as things are now."

Dimmu Borgir or Cradle of Filth?
"I prefer Dimmu Borgir; great band, great guys."

Here’s your chance to regurgitate blood and spill your guts over the world. In other words; is there anything you’d like to say to our readers in conclusion to this interview?
"Absolutely fucking nothing."

There we go, no-nonsense and cutting through flesh and bone. Impaled Nazarene at its best. Mika, thanks for the interview!

Good and entertaining review, I enjoyed it!
The band is good, I'm not into black-metal, yet I found it worth listening to for a while
