My name is Luuk van Gestel and I was given birth to on the 17th of September 1985. I joined Metalrage in September 2003 after replying to a newspost that implied that new crewmembers were wanted. I started out as a newsposter and not long after I was added to the crew as an admin.

 

 

Metal, music in general, takes up most of the time in my life (besides smoking pot, drinking beer and watching movies, just chilling out basically). I play bass in a metal band called Model 101 (see www.myspace.com/model101) and in a stoner/sludge/doom band called Tankslapper, buy way too much cd’s and visit way too much concerts. I started out as one of the truest Limp Bizkit fans (hey, at least I admit it!), but after The Chocolate Starfish it was time to move on. Experiencing Slipknot live as a fifteen year old kid has left a permanent mark on me and it will probably remain my all-time favourite band for the rest of my life. Due to Slipknot I started listening to other styles of metal and liking them. I kind of check out the styles I like, take my personal favourites out, and leave the rest to rot. I now can listen from nu-metal to grindcore to doom metal, but I still absolutely hate stuff like gothic, black metal and power metal.

 

After discovering bands like Mr. Bungle, Fantômas, Cephalic Carnage and The Dillinger Escape Plan, I really got into weird music. I’m a big fan of Mike Patton and I simply adore Sunn 0))). I have music that will literally make your stomach turn. And I love every bit of it!

 

So there you have it. I’m not a trendsetter, nor am I a follower. I do as I please for as much as possible and I don’t give jack shit about all that doesn’t affect me personally. Why? Because I think it’s a waste of time to care about shit that you can’t change anyway. In my opinion, life, is the biggest joke there is since you have no control over it except for your own actions and you just have to ride it out ‘till the end. Which may come at any time, any place and in any way. So just try to enjoy it.

 

I hope I didn’t scare anyone with my vision of life, it’s just the way I am and I can not and will not change that. Just live your life and do whatever the fuck you want to do. Peace.
