1/12/08 - Italian Round Up!

Silvester here again. Let me fill you in on what happened in Italy. We arrived in Milan pretty early so we had a lot of time to walk around and check out the city. We had some good Italian food and had a chance to relax, which we don't usually get. Today Flogging Molly also did a signing session in the Eastpak store Milan - you can check the images from this in the gallery below. The store was really small but a good amout of people showed up. The venue for the night was called Rolling Stone, a very cool venue.

Next stop was Bologna and The Estragon, a place well outside the main city. Some of grabbed a cab and went to the city centre. Bologna has some amazing architecture, just the mix of old and new was really cool. Later we got back to the venue and since it was thanksgiving we all got served a kind of Italian version of what a typical thanksgiving dinner would be like. It was probably way off but I had no way of knowing, all I knew that it was good food. All the bands played good and the crowd really seemed to like it. Skindred did and interesting intro where they all switched around their instruments. After the show we got in the buss and had a 15 hour drive ahead of us, next stop Barcelona, Spain.

Tell you about Spain in my next update!

26/11/08 - Yet another update from the road!

Hello,

Silvester here with another round up of what has been going on with the tour. Tuesday we we're in Wiesbaden at the Schachthof. Supposedly it used to be an old slaughterhouse, but it had been turned in to a really cool venue. The German crowd we're going crazy for all the bands right from the start. Everybody had a really good show. After we went around the corner to a bar that was in the same building where they had a Irish folk band playing, of actually it was more like fans who had been to the show lust playing randomly in the bar. Some of the Flogging Molly people joined in of course, which was kind of cool.

Next day we hit up Munich, the last German date of the tour. Street Dogs had a very interesting set, some GIs showed up and did a show with them. In another song Mike invited (probably the two biggest Street Dogs fans) these two blind twins on stage. They were really happy, they told me later it was the best thing they've ever experienced. It was also the last night with Klaas and Tim so after the show we to some kinds of punk disco close to the venue for some good bye drinks. Oh yeah, and it started snowing.

After that we arrived in Switzerland. Z7 was the venue. I guess they mostly do metal shows there, you could kind of tell from what the venue looked like and from the pictures on the walls. But that place was sold out. It was so packed you had to run around outside to get to different parts of the venue. And again, it was snowing, but I love the snow. As it turned out it was Eric (Street Dogs tour manager) and Mikey (from Skindreds) birthdays. We ended up having a big party on stage after the show for them when the clock struck midnight.

Following day we arrived in Graz, Austria for a day off. We all went in to town and checked out all the Christmas markets. It was pretty much an uneventful day. Some well needed rest for everybody.

Next day, still in Graz I meet up with Sebastian and Nicole from Eastpak Austria, really good people. I'm kind of bummed I couldn't hang out with them more on this tour. Again it was a sold out, or close to I think, show. The place was packed and as usual when its packed people go crazy, especially for Flogging Molly.

After that we hit up Vienna, the capital of Austria. First thing on the agenda was a signing session with Flogging Molly at a store which sells Eastpak stuff in mall in the city center. There was a huge turnout, maybe 300 people of all ages. People just kept coming and coming, really successful. The venue for the night was the Gasometer. An awesome place which had a big mall on top of the venue on these 4 circular buildings, it even had its own subway station. The bands kicked ass as usual. It was the last night with Sebastian and Nicole so we had some good bye drinks and then it was time for me to leave, pretty early to compared to other nights, because we had a long drive ahead of us though the Alps to get to Italy.

And that's where I am now, in Milan. Check back soon to hear more about my Italian adventures and pictures from the German, Swiss and Austrian shows!

20/11/08 Another update from the road!

Silvester here again with another update from the road. Let me give you the low down from the last couple of days.

Last you heard from me we were in Stockholm. Oh man, that was an amazing night. Of course, all the bands played great as usual. Skindred joined up again after missing Oslo, everybody were real glad to see them again. The venue was a place they use for both concerts and indoor sporting events, the place was totally packed. After the show some of took a cab into the city center and meet some fans at Garlic and Shots, same place where the after party was held in London after the Astoria show. We made it back just in time for bus call and we were on our way to Copenhagen.

Since I live in Malmö, which is like 20 minutes away from Copenhagen, lots of people I know turned up for the show. A lot of my good friends showed up, it was awesome. Vega, venue for the night, is a place I've been to many time before and seen many good bands. So it was cool to check out what it looked from the behind the scenes. It has lots of crazy stairs which go to floors and half-floors. It's very easy to get lost in there. But defiantly one of the nicest venues on this tour so far.

Next we headed for Berlin, Germany and a well needed day off. We all went out and I probably had one of my life's best meals at the most popular punk rock restaurant I Due Forni. We enjoyed a 9- course gourmet Italian meal with all kinds of pizza, pasta and meats. No need to say everybody was in a good mood. After the food we went out for drinks at nearby White Trash Fast and a couple of other bars near the restaurant. All in all it was an amazingly good night.

Following morning it was back to work at Huxley's. I hooked up with Klaas and Tim from Eastpak Germany, who arrived in their very cool Eastpak bus. In which, later that night some contest winners had the pleasure of hanging out and down a Guinness with Matt and Bob from Flogging Molly.

After Berlin we hit up Oberhausen, when we arrived the venue was really cold, I'm not kidding. It was probably warmer outside. Klaas and Tim meet up again and we took most of Floggin Molly to this sweet Eastpak store located in a giant mall in Oberhausen for a signing session. On our way there we got word that people were already lining up outside. And sure enough lots of people turned up. Flogging Molly met the fans and we headed back to the venue just in time for the doors to open. The place filled up pretty quick and thank god it got a little warmer inside. After the show Dennis from Flogging Molly and Mike from Street Dogs entertained the leaving crowd with some U2 songs "street musician"-style close to the entrance/exit.

15/11/08 Update from Scandinavia!

Hey Hey, Silvester here again with another update from the road. The tour has reached Stockholm, and it looks like it's going to be an awesome Saturday night.

Last night we were in Oslo, Norway and the venue, Rockefeller was sold out. Sadly Skindred had to cancel thier set but Flogging Molly, Street Dogs and Time Again kicked some mayor ass on stage. All the people we're going crazy. A really good night for the tour!

Tuesday we hit up Gothenburg, Sweden. Since I'm from Sweden. Loads of my friends and even my brother came out. It was really good seeing some familiar faces.

12/11/08 Paiges UK Tour Diary

The EASTPAK Antidote Tour kicked of for me on a very rainy and dark Saturday afternoon. I loaded up the UK eastpak marketing car with banners, stickers and as many giveaways that I could squeeze in there, and set off north! The drive from London to Newcastle was a tough one, the roads being uber busy and so wet. So I turned up my Flogging Molly cd as loud as I could and kept on truckin'! The only thing in my mind now was how exciting the next 8 days will be!!!

The next day I met up with Silvester, who is representing Eastpak for the whole trip. Wow what a job he has! He will be staying on the Time again and Street Dogs tour bus, aka the yellow submarine, for the entire tour. Living and breathing Rock and Roll!

Silvester and I got all of our giveaways ready to give out to everyone, and then let the EASTPAK Antidote Tour begin! This was a fantastic kick off to the tour, the venue was full of very enthusiastic Geordie's, dancing like mad, who all burst into the cool Newcastle air at the end of the show with a big thumbs up!

At the Barrowlands in Glasgow Silvester and I set up our freebies with Freddy in the Flogging Molly and Skindred merch area. It was great to have all of you come over to chat to us and get some EASTPAK goodies! After they stormed the crowd, Benj and Dan from Skindred came out to say hello and hang out with all of you until the end of the gig. Massive photo op and chance to meet these brilliant guys! Everyone took advantage of chillin with the band that just rocked their socks off on stage!!

So goodbye Glasgow, hello M6. Paigie travelled from the north all the way to the south. I didn't think I could do it, but I managed the eight and a half hour trip thanks to my new Street Dogs cd!! (and some of the crazy content of the BBC radio channels.... hehe). I was secretly dissapointed that there was a day off and no gig to go to that night! So I got back to my cosy house in east London and did some research on the bands I was touring with. Did you know that the Accordian player from Flogging Molly is the old school favourite pro-skater Matthew Hensley? Nice one eh?! Was definitely going to make sure I get to shake his hand!

So 100% eager for the next gig at the Astoria in London, I got there nice and early to meet Sly (Yes, Silvester had obtained a slick nick name by day three!). We get all of those freebies ready for you all and then waited for all of you beautiful punk rockers to arrive. I'm glad a lot of you got there nice and early and didn't miss out on the first band to play - TIME AGAIN! You wouldn't want to miss them! They definiteley get the heart racing and get you psyched up for the night! Because this is my home venue I got to spend the night with loads of cools peeps. We had Frank from Gallows and his Mum there, his mum getting a special shout out and song dedicated to her by FM.... Lucky her!!!! I don't know if it was because I had all of my friends around that night (or if I had a few more than the usual pint....cheeky!) but I really thought that every band really rocked out in London! Maybe it was you guys in the crowd that really got them all excited? That was probably the most mental mosh pit I have ever seen! We even had Mike McColgan from the Street Dogs run up on stage to sing with FM!!! And hands up everyone that got goose bumps from FM's intense encore that night!!!

So day 5 and we are heading up to the Carling Academy in Manchester. Compared to the recent drive, the 4 hour trip was a breeze. Before I knew it I could see the Academy and the yellow submarine. Yippeee! The venue was great! Huuuuuge space and newly renovated. We had lots of our EASTPAK stockists there as guests that night, who all came to say hi to me and Sly! Thanks guys! I hope you all had a great night! I felt very bad for everyone on the tour buses that night, because after that gig I went back to an apartment, kitted with a plasma tele, complimentary boxes of choccies and egyptian cotton sheets. (shhh, don't tell them)(hehehe!!!!).

I woke up on day 6 and knew that my journey over to dublin on the ferry wasn't going to be stressful as the sun was shining brightly..... Excellent! So I set off through beautiful North Wales. But by the time I got to Holyhead and ready to board the ferry in the car, the rain was sideways and the wind was howling! Mmm...... Back to the stressing!!! Aaah! Just get me to Dublin! I have a gig to get to and Guiness to drink!!!

There were some very dedicated fans in Dublin, and not just of FM. I met a rad couple that had come to see Time again. They were so lovely! I even caught them outside after the gig chatting with Daniel Dart! They won the EASTPAK Antidote Tour rock back that evening which made me very happy!!

Alright.... Early bells next morning getting ready for the ferry again. But don't worry, the weather was lovely and calm! Phew! Although, I did hear that all ferries after mine were cancelled due to the weather turning bad again. We were all so lucky to get back over! I got to do the touristy thing through North Wales, stopping and taking some pics of the landscape. It was all misty and beautiful. The autumn coloured leaves and the waterfalls left me continuously stunned for the whole drive. What a place! But the drive around Birmingham was another thing! I have never been so lost in my life!!! I eventually go to the gig, and made sure that you all got some EASTPAK goodies! Lots of people came and talked to us at Birmingham! You were all so enthusiastic and great to chat with! I could see that there was a lot of people chatting with Skindred, the Street Dogs and Time Again who were all out chillin with their fans!

Day 8 and my final day for on the EASTPAK Antidote tour. Sad sad times for Paige!! I am glad that my last gig was so good! The Bristol crowd were packed tightly in to the Carling Academy ready to rock out. I made sure that I watched every band play, and OMG I enjoyed every minute of it!

All I can say to you now, is that if you haven't already bought your ticket for the EASTPAK Antidote tour at the venue near you.... Hurry up and do it so you don't miss out on the body rocking party that these bands put on!

Don't forget to say hi to Sly and get some EASTPAK giveaways!

Big thanks to everyone that I met on the tour and all of the amazing live music that I heard! What a road trip!

12/11/08 Update from mainland Europe!

Hey Hey, The tour just landed in Hamburg, Germany. We just came from Tilburg, Holland where the venue, 013, was totally packed and sold out last night. All the bands kicked some major ass as usual! Earlier in the day yesterday Skindred also did an awesome acoustic set in a bar close by called Cul de Sac.

It was really nice to meet all the Dutch people that came out. I just got word that the next Dutch date on the tour in Amsterdam on December 5th is also sold out, which is awesome. So, for all BeNeLuxians out there that didn't get any tickets, but still want to catch these great bands, there are still some tickets left for the show at Hof Ter Lo in Antwerp. But hurry up, they are also selling out fast!

Street Dogs Tour Update

Hello this is Mike McColgan fom the Street Dogs. Here is the breakdown from the Eastpak Antidote tour...... We have played Newcastle, Glasgow, Liverpool, London, Manchester, Dublin, Birmingham and tonight we are in Bristol. The tour has been amazing so far.The shows have been crazy so far with hi energy crowds interacting with the bands. Also it has been really cool to speak to Europeans before and after the shows about the big change in the US and obviously that is the election of Barack Obama to president of the United States. There really seems to be a genuine sense of optimism in the air over here and we hear that it exists back home in the US as well. Gotta go and get ready for the show.See you soon in the barricade!
