Finally a profile!!!

Well let me introduce myself...I am Damy Gleijm, when writing this piece I'm 27 years old and living (since a couple of weeks) in Hillegom. A town that's not really worth writing about, but hey you have to live somewhere...(the photo is me after way too much beer on a football weekend...)

Why the nickname Neurotic? I have chosen this name, because my stepmother Joyce once told me she became neurotic when ironing her clothes and I was listening to my music. Especially Fear Factory and Slipknot were bands that fueled some killing tendencies ! I am glad she loves me otherwise I am afraid those tendencies would take over, haha.

I've been introduced to Metalrage by Boek. I know Boek from a football club in my place of birth Sassenheim called Teylingen. We met at a concert of Stone Sour and since that time I've been following Metalrage as a guest. Then in the summer of this year I went with Boek to Fields of Rock and he gave me a chance to review on Metalrage. And a couple of months later I'm writing my profile (way too late) on this site after doing several reviews and liking it!

I've been introduced to rock and metal on a very early stage of my life. I think I was six years old when I played bands like Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin and Alice Cooper on an old pickup at the attic in our house. So I'm really spoonfed with rock and metal! Thank you dad for introducing me to this great music!

After this first introduction I went astray as a lot of kids of that age would do. House and Rap entered my life and I listened a lot to those kinds of music, though rock and metal were still lurking around. When I went to high school a music style called Grunge was entering a scene and it really pulled me away from all the house music etc. I instantly became addicted to all kinds of music concerning a guitar. The Grunge brought the rock and metal definitely back in my life and after that re-introduction to hard music made me curious to other styles. Rapidly Metallica entered the scene and it's still my favorite band, although the latter albums miss the effect their first albums had. So, I've grown up in the time of grunge and the second wave of thrash bands (Machine Head, Pantera, Sepultura etc.).

I don't have one genre of rock/metal that is my favorite. I like bands who make songs with a head and a tail and who write memorable melodies and song structures. As long as it's not too extreme (I really dislike black metal, grindcore, US death and mathcore like Dillinger Escape Plan) I most of the time like it. Of course I have my preferences like Bay Area Thrash, Rock/Grunge and the more modern styles like Metalcore and Nu-Metal.

Metallica, Megadeth, Biohazard, Soundgarden, Alter Bridge, Audioslave, Machine Head, Ozzy Osbourne, Korn, Slipknot, Stone Sour etc.
