| Uk-based black metallers Akercocke have been confirmed for this year's Bloodstock Open Air festival, set to take place August 15-17, 2008 at Catton Hall in Derbyshire, England. The festival billing is now shaping up as follows: Akercocke Alestorm As I Lay Dying At The Gates Cloudscape Communic Crowning Glory Dimmu Borgir Eluveitie Evile Grand Magus Helloween Iced Earth Kataklysm Keltic Jihad Mob Rules Moonsorrow Nightwish Opeth Overkill Primal Fear Pro-Jekt Saint Deamon Soilwork Swallow The Sun Týr Akercocke will support the reactivated British thrashers Sabbat on June 8 at Scala in London. Opening the show will be Dublin thrash hopefuls Gama Bomb. As previously reported, Akercocke has scheduled a June 5 performance at The Barfly in Birmingham, England. Support at the gig will come from Left To Bleed and Scorched Deity. Akercocke's music video for the song "Axiom" can be viewed below. The clip was directed by Erica Herbert of Hsi London (Nirvana, My Chemical Romance). Her surrealist vision is the perfect compliment to Akercocke's brutally beautiful sound. Deemed "a unique and beautiful visual outing" by frontman Jason Mendonca, "Axiom" leaves the realm of mere music video and enters the realm of pure art. "Axiom" comes off Akercocke's latest release, "Antichrist". Rated a 9 in Decibel magazine, "Antichrist" is yet another step forward in Akercocke's ever-evolving journey into darkness. |
