In the past 3 years emorock band A Day’s Work from Alkmaar has grown to become a name in the Dutch clubscene. This came about through convincing performances in Paradiso, Melkweg and at Parkpop, amongst others and through glowing reviews. The band is characterised by the energetic stage performance, powerful vocals, a strong guitar sound and catchy, melodious songs. A Day's Work has been compared to bands like My Vitriol, Filter, The Cure and Coldplay in the media.
And once again a Dutch emorock band send us their EP. This time the band is called ‘A Day’s Work’. The style this band plays is defined as Emorock and the band has got 5 members. Now let’s continue with their EP. The songs on the album are of great quality. And a CD with great quality is important when the genre of the music is like this. The songs have got slow calm parts and stronger heavier parts. Instrumental this EP is unique and original. The vocals are influenced by other bands I’ve heard. But the combination of these is magical and extraordinary to listen to. The best song on this EP according to my opinion definitely is ‘From Where I Stand’, this song is calm but got a strong attitude at the same time. And I sure like a combination of normal vocals and shouting back-up vocals. The EP sure is great to listen to and I can say that the band can be proud of the result. Next to that the EP contains a lot more than just the four songs. This implies pictures, video’s, MP3’s and a Flash movie. A great afford that has to be rewarded. I hope that we can meet these guys sometimes for an interview and maybe a special!
