When I heard Maroon was supporting Obituary on their European track I was a bit shocked. The two bands didn’t fit in the same genre, I thought! After receiving their new album ‘When Worlds Collide’ a couple of weeks back they sure surprised me and I have found the reason why they were on tour with the legends of Death Metal. Besides that, the band seems to like touring with bands from other genres, they have been touring with Sepultura, Downset and many more.

From the first second until the last tone of the album the band managed to deliver a well quality so called ‘Metalcore’ album. But I have to say this album brings more than that, for example Obituary vocals (There Is Something You Will Never Erase) and technical solos (Almost every song!) that are not present in the Metalcore dictionary (even though I never found this book there clearly is one because there are too many bands sounding alike!).

This time the band recorded the album with Jacob Hansen in the Hansen Studios where they were accompanied by label mates Mercenary who did some backup vocals on the album and they even used some of the Persistance recordings of Agnostic Front vocalist Roger Miret.

Maroon has found a way to combine (Thrash) Metal and Hardcore in a better way than all the other standard Metalcore albums that are being released now. Where the vocals reach levels compared with ‘Killswitch Engage Clean‘ to ‘Obituary Grunt’ and technical musicians (extreme well playing guitarists and a drummer without triggers on his kit) there is no other thing to conclude: ‘Maroon is one of the better bands from Germany at this moment!’
