Unfortunately it more or less took me four months before finally writing down some words about myself, but better late than never!

My name is Karen or just Kaar for short and I was asked by Maurice to join Metalrage, because the previous black metal reviewer left. A bit anxious because all the writing had to be in English, I agreed and so far it's been very good. At the moment I mostly review albums and do some interviews every once and a while. I must admit that reviewing music is completely different from just listening and enjoying it, but it most definitely is a challenge. A big advantage on my account is that I also book black metal concertnights and now I have a better view at which bands are new to the scene and are worthy of checking out for a live gig.

Other things I do with my precious time besides booking bands, is studying, working and bellydancing. Right now I'm in a 'between' year, meaning I have to pass a couple of courses in order to be admitted next year to the specialisation Mediapsychology at the Free University of Amsterdam. Since I don't have to go to class that often (that is, if I even intend to go at all), I work three days a week at a company that researches how satisfied the customers and employees of other companies are. The weekends are mostly filled with partying and going to concerts/ festivals. If this is not the case, I try to invest some time in my writing, which I also do on a private base.
