This time I received a sealed promo from Deus Ex Machina. A bit vague is that their press kit doesn’t give me a clear explanation about what this band is about. The only thing I know now is that they’re from Singapore. There is no website, only a MySpace profile.

The booklet tells you something about their past. To me it looks like this is a sort of project. It started as a three-piece but more and more people got involved. In 2005 they stepped into the studio with a hand full of vocalists. Halfway through the recordings they recruited a friend to fill in the second guitar.

Whatever Deus Ex Machina seems to be, it’s metal. So they’re at the right address. Although in every song sings a different vocalist, the music stays (death) metal. And to my surprise, it’s not bad at all. Heavy powerful riffs backed up with tight, fluid drums. And it’s not total destruction as they did put some melody into it.

Even though the story behind Deus Ex Machina is a bit vague, in the end it’s all about the music. So check it out for yourself at their MySpace.
