Slave Zero is a Hardcore/death metal band from Ireland. The band was formed in 2000. They’ve supported bands such as: Hatebreed, Primal Fear and Exodus. Never having heard of this band, I started to listen to this EP.

The first thing that I noticed was that the vocals of Greame Flynn sound a lot like those of  Hatebreed’s Jamey Jasta. The first song, “The Pain Remits”, is not a special song. Slave Zero brings every hardcore cliché on the table in this song.

This album gets a bit more interesting from the third song on the album, “Soul Of Ruin”. This song has some more diversity to it than the first two songs. Some good guitar work is showed on this song, but the drum work is pretty basic. But stated again, Greame’s voice sounds way too much like Jamey Jasta’s (it’s almost scary).

The Pain Remits is a decent album, but let us hope that when they release their full length album, there is some more diversity on the album. Slave Zero shows some potential and hopefully they will show us that in the future, but for now, I’m not impressed.
