Slipknot - Before I Forget (single)

Slipknot’s back! For quite a while actually. After a long period of absence, the band returned with their third Roadrunner Records album ‘Vol. 3: (The Subliminal Verses)’. After the release of that album, the band has been on tour constantly and more and more videos were shot to show the world a new side of Slipknot. A side we hadn’t seen before. The unmasked side of Slipknot. Especially with their latest video, the video for ‘Before I Forget’ that is, Slipknot grabs the attention of many people again. But what is a video without a single? That’s right! Not very much! And therefore Metalrage.com got Slipknot’s latest single to review, ‘Before I Forget’.

But, reviewing a single, isn’t that a bit awkward?! Well, I think it is. Especially with this single. Why? Because there’s only one (?!?!?!?) song on this disc. Really man, I expected more from a band like Slipknot! It’s a nice song and there’s nothing wrong with their choice to release ‘Before I Forget’ as their latest single, but it would have been a much more appreciated release if it contained some more songs/remixes/demos etc.
Musically speaking I don’t think it’s necessary to explain anything more because everybody knows Slipknot already and the song ‘Before I Forget’ can be found on their latest album as well, of which the review can be found here: http://www.metalrage.com/reviews/236.

Then the artwork of the single; well, it’s nice, but don’t expect the unexpected here. Slipknot unmasked is something you won’t find on this disc neither on its artwork. Furthermore, thumbs up for the back cover of the single, nice logo!

All in all it has become quite a long review about a single that contains only one track, don’t you think?! Well, with all respect to the band, for the collectors/fans of Slipknot it’s a nice release but even to them I’d say this single is not really worth the money.

Oh, and for those of you who didn’t know yet: Slipknot’s playing an exclusive club show in Paradiso, Amsterdam next month. June 6th to be exact. If you’re still able to get a ticket, have fun there and let the band smell you on stage!
