I understand record labels don’t want their releases to be spread in an illegal way. Making it difficult to copy a promo by dividing 7 songs into 99 cuts is one thing… I don’t use my random button very often, so that’s ok with me. However, this time, when I put the record in my cd-player the producers have been sampling in a trailer with a voice which tells you: “You’re listening to the new Decapitated album: Organic Hallucinosis, out on Earache records.”

Good thing the album itself is really great.

Poland ’s Decapitated have always played a very technical style of death metal and they just keep getting better at it. Changes in rhythm and speed with the accuracy of a laser guided missile and breaks that make your head spin. Switching from slow, melodic parts to insanely fast solo’s and blast beats. This album is like a whirlwind: picking you up, throwing you down in confusion and just when you think you’re safe, it starts again.

Fans of their earlier albums can buy this one blindly. The style of music and sound hasn’t changed much. They just got even more technical and there’s some more experimenting on this album, without the band selling out or going soft.

If you’re not familiar with Decapitated, think of a European sounding Morbid Angel with the technical precision and intensity of bands like Cryptopsy. Some parts even remind me of Mastodon.

Organic Hallucinosis is blessed with a very transparent production, which allows you to hear exactly what’s going on. This is good, because it takes a while to really get into this album. I can only advise you to listen to it on some headphones a couple of times, it completely blew me away!

Poland has a lot of great extreme Metal bands, Decapitated being one which definitely deserves to be heard. The fact that they started very young (on their first album Winds of Creation these guys were 16 or something) makes me respect them even more. Great band!!
