Dry Kill Logic - The Magellan Complex
Dry Kill Logic is a former Roadrunner Records artist. After one full length the band got dropped, lucky enough the band found SPV for their 2004 release The Dead And Dreaming. But once again tragedy occurred, the band got dropped. In 2006 the band is going to release their third full length through Repossession Records and this release will be called Of Vengeance and Violence. To give the fans something in advance there is an 3-track EP on the market with the title The Magellan Complex.

The package contains a CD and a DVD with a short documentary about the band. Ever since the first release The Darker Side Of Nonsense there is no real genre where you can put this band. On The Magellan Complex you can find two covers and one rough mix of a new song. The first two songs really surprised me, I never thought a band like Dry Kill Logic could change their style of music this much with a cover. But both the Guns n’ Roses and the Danzig cover sound really good. Last but not least there is the new song. ‘Called From Victim To Killer’ it immediately kicks in as a typical Dry Kill Logic song. With the amazing drum patterns of Phil Arcuri and the brilliant vocal qualities of Cliff Rigano the band gives me a positive feeling once again.

The DVD on the other hand is a bit disappointing. A lot of bad footage and only images which are recorded live I miss the ‘I am there’ feeling. The story of the band is told in a short documentary but after watching the entire disc I have the feeling I still don’t know a lot of the guys. A cool new thing is the passion for fireworks, these guys destroy several guitars on the DVD!

Overall the band managed to get back in the picture with this EP. The new song is truly awesome and it will get you curious for the full length which is due in September. The DVD is a nice extra but that is it, do not expect a brilliant DVD with all the aspects you want to see on a DVD.
