Metalrage recommends: Paaspop 2014 - Come party with us!
Ever since 2003 we of Metalrage are visiting the Paaspop festival in Schijndel during Eastern. After a good first experience it became a tradition to start the festival season with this cozy festival in the southern parts of The Netherland. In the last couple of years we saw the festival grow bigger and bigger, but fortunately the organization managed to keep the great atmosphere we fell in love with intact. Looking back at the weather in the past couple of Eastern weekends we’ve had both extreme negative as positive experiences, but the festival itself has never let us down. Because we’re no meteorologists we’ll just have to wait whether the camp site will be heaven or hell , but we can give you a flash forward of what you can expect concerning the planned (musical) entertainment.

One of the first bands to play at this year’s edition is Birth Of Joy on the Friday afternoon at the Jack Daniel’s Stage. At this relatively small stage you will see some intense, cozy and/or sweaty performances and this three-piece from Utrecht will immediately get you in the right mood for a party with their psychedelic and blues orientated rock ‘n roll. And where BOJ will get you in the right mood, the almighty Terror will finish the first day in style. These hardcore veterans, with the charismatic frontman Scott Vogel, will get anyone on the dance floor moving. And without barriers and security in front of the Jack Daniel’s Stage this show is bound to create an enormous amount of chaos with stagedives, bodies on top of bodies, sing-a-longs and furious mosh pits.

On the second day of the festival there will be even more variety. You can start the day for example with the female fronted hard rock band Halestorm. After their catchy powerballads you can choose between the instrumental rock of And So I Watch You From Afar and the groove metal of Devildriver before ending the second day with the electronic act The Prodigy or an alcohol fueled party with the sleaze rock of Nashville Pussy.

If you don’t have the energy to keep on going you can always choose to get a drink in the Thunderbolt bar or go for some bowling in Club Lebowski, but the last day of the festival also brings us great music, so choose wisely. It would be a pity if you’d miss out the grunge/garagerock act Drenge, the psychedelic bluesrock band DeWolff, the legendary punkers of The Exploited or the hardcore giants of Hatebreed.

All the ingredients are present for yet another crazy Paaspop weekend, but what about you?!
