The Burial Chamber Trio, Makoto Kawabata&Jean-Fran�ois Pauvros - Droneworm
Well, this amazing threesome of legendary artists played two of their four European shows in Holland, so of course I had to go twice. Luckily the second show was at a walking distance from where I live, so a good party was bound to happen.
 
The opening act for this evening was Makoto Kawabata (Acid Mothers Temple) and Jean-François Pauvros, two guitarists of whom I had never heard before. The two of them were seated on stage with their guitars, hooked to numerous effects of course. They created massive soundscapes that went from very slow and spacey to fast and chaotic. I wasn’t that impressed with everything they played, but there definitely were some nice passages in their set. They must have played for like an hour, which is way too long for an opening act I think. Especially compared to the opening act of two days before, which lasted for about fifteen minutes. But they weren’t even finished when they actually stopped, somebody of the venue had to make sure they knew it was time to quit.
 
The Burial Chamber Trio (for whom they are, see the previous live view of this show) again attacked the crowd with an amount of smoke that can’t be healthy anymore, but this time it didn’t stick to the stage as much as at 013. This was kind of nice, because now I could follow more of what the artists were doing on their instrument. This venue called the Worm is pretty old and monumental actually, so the entire floor was trembling under our feet like Satan himself was pushing his horned skull through the earth’s crust. This made the experience a whole lot more vivid, but I must say the soundwaves coming from the stage itself didn’t make my clothes tremble as much as the show before. The sound itself also wasn’t as great as at 013 (in my opinion of course), there was way too much bass, too little guitar, and the vocals were undetectable in the mix from time to time. Attila could only be really heard when he brought the mic close to his face, which is a real shame because he is an amazing vocalist with some unique capabilities that really make this trio sound like it should. He did have a more impressing stage performance though, he literally came crawling on stage again dressed in his weird outfit, and he kept on crawling there from time to time. Weird guy, impressing voice. 

I forgot to mention this in the previous review, but there was a part where Oren puts on a ski-mask and Greg put on a gasmask, which this time was replaced by tape across the eyes, playing the rest of the set basically blind. This was interesting because now Oren had to keep paying attention to what Greg was doing. Awesome performance, I really loved the parts where they let their guitar and bass feedback in the same rhythm. Can’t wait until there’s an album release of this stuff.
