Summary
Arsis from the USA acts in two subgenres of death metal. On one hand they’re very melodic, but on the other hand quite technical, too. Their latest showcase is We Are The Nightmare of which they will of course play some tracks. Let’s just hope that their sound won’t suffer because of the fact that Arsis currently operates as a three-piece.
The first of the two Scandinavian black metal acts on this Metalfest is Keep Of Kalessin from Norway. This band is not your every-day black metal band. Critics all agree that they present a progressive and unique sound that is both fast and crystal clear.
Marduk is the other black metal band on the bill and was founded with the goal to become the most blasphemous and satanic band ever. In the meantime, the band released 10 studio albums and is one of the pioneers for the genre.
Also, Canadian death metal band Kataklysm can be seen as a pioneer, being acknowledged as the founders of the “Northern Hyperblast”, a style that refers to Max Duhamel’s gravity blasts. Their last record Prevail is already their ninth studio record and now they’re ready to promote it.

Hail Of Bullets is the only band that plays a home game. They formed in 2006, but their roots have been entangled in the death metal scene for a long time already. Among the band members are Martin van Drunen, who we know from legendary bands such as Pestilence, Asphyx and Bolt Thrower. Drummer Ed Warby got his fame from Gorefest, Demiurg and Ayreon, while all the other members have a history in Thanatos.
Ever catch Aborted playing a weak show? I sure didn’t. These Belgian death metallers are one of the biggest bands out there and always destroy on stage. Must-see!
