Piledriver completes work on new album
Canadian metal legends Piledriver have finished mixing their new album, "Metal Manifesto", at a Chicago studio with producer Neil Kernon (Queensr?che, Nevermore, Cannibal Corpse, Deicide). The CD, which will be released on October 31 via Northern Storm Records, was recorded at Metalworks studio in Toronto.

Commented guitarist Kinky Pork Cream: "[The album] is now on its way to get mastered, which should be completed by this weekend. Overall we are more then happy with the results. With Neil Kernon's help, I believe we have made a truly heavy thrash metal album that will definitely make a statement in the metal world. Working with Neil was a blast as he is a man of many interesting stories and insight. I feel confident that Piledriver will be working with Neil again on future releases. Spending five days in Chicago was quite a good experience as we met a lot of great people and lots of metalheads. We ended our stay in Chicago at the famous Kuma's Corner burger joint. We had heard many stories of this place and it didn't disappoint. Good food and awesome metal tunes were played. As for shows, our next show is October 13th with Overkill at the Opera House [in Toronto]. Well, that's all for now. Lots of work in the meantime, including booking a tour of Europe for 2009. Lots of countries to hit this time."

Piledriver was founded in 1985 by Gord Kirchin. They were known for an over-the-top image and flamboyant song titles/lyrics ("Sex With Satan", "Alien Rape", "Sodomize the Dead", "Witch Hunt", "Human Sacrifice", etc). Probably their best known song was the title track of their debut album, "Metal Inquisition", which featured in the chorus the sound of a falling guillotine blade chopping someone's head off. The album was followed by "Stay Ugly" a year later.
