Slipknot's fourth album, "All Hope Is Gone", is being streamed in its entirety at Spinner.com. Released today (Tuesday, August 26), the Cd is the band's first new studio offering in more than four years, following 2004's "Vol. 3: (The Subliminal Verses)". Lead vocalist Corey Taylor has injected a lot of religious, Biblical and numerological references into his lyrics this time, and told The Pulse of Radio he's wanted to tackle these themes for nearly two years. "When it came time to write and put stuff together, I had stuff that I really wanted to say," he said. "Stuff that was just very blatant, but very powerful. And I was able to fit it together with the music, so that was, you know, kind of a lucky thing. It was just time for me to start talking about these concepts, you know. I'd kind of done the thing where I talked about myself, and there's always gonna be moments in songs where I do talk about myself, but it was time to branch out."

The first single and video from "All Hope Is Gone" is called "Psychosocial".

Slipknot's music was also accused last week of influencing a South African teenager who stabbed a classmate to death while wearing a Slipknot-style mask. Corey Taylor told Blender magazine, "I'm disturbed by the fact that people were hurt and someone died. As far as my responsibility for that goes, it stops there, because I know our message is actually very positive."

Slipknot recently completed the first Rockstar Energy Mayhem tour with co-headliners Disturbed and will return to North American stages in January.

I heard a couple of tracks but I'm far from convinced I have to say... need to listen to it a 100 times I fear.

I've mixed feelings with this one, just like I had with Vol. 3. Too much mid tempo.. Why can't Slipknot just kill all the time? It's not the kind of band to be in touch with their feelings, damnit!

Well it's not a killer album imo. Some songs are great, but a few ......

Is the main issue about 'All hope is gone' being a shitty album with shitty songs, or is it about Slipknot not sounding like you'd expect them to on this album??

To me, it's both. The albums starts off with some nice tunes, and the closedown is once again great. But I'd say the lionshare of this album is mediocre, and if this wasn't Slipknot no-one would give a poop. Bands who have a violent image, and are at their best playing fast and aggressive are bound to make asses of themselves when tuning it down. That's not to say that Slipknot shouldn't experiment - gladly even - but wearing a bloodied mask when singen a heartbroken ballad is plain silly. On the other hand, Slipknot should do whatever they feel like, the fans will buy their stuff anyway because of those three good songs. Kind of like you said there, really. Only the other way around: liking what Slipknot's release because of what you expected (mainly: Slipknot). Nothing wrong with that, just doesn't make for a good album if you ask me..
