Chevelle to release new album in September
The Pulse of Radio reports that
Chevelle has set September 8 as the release date for its fifth studio album, titled
"Sci-Fi Crimes", according to
HardDrive Radio. A first single called
"Jars", which the band has been playing on recent live dates, will head to rock radio stations around June 23. Although there's been rumors that this is the heaviest
Chevelle album yet, drummer
Sam Loeffler told
The Pulse of Radio he has a different view. "I think that production-wise it's different in that we used a lot more vintage amplifiers and things like that," he said. "I don't know that it's really a heavier record than any of our others. I actually think it's probably the opposite. But it's certainly still driving, melodic, hard rock music."
In addition to
"Jars",
Chevelle has played
"Letter From A Thief" and
"Sleep Apnea" on some recent dates.
The new disc will follow up 2007's
"Vena Sera".
The band is back home in Chicago now, but will get back out this summer on a tour with
Staind, beginning July 1 in Peoria.
