Exclusive Mastodon artwork included in new issue of Metal Hammer magazine
The latest issue of U.K.'s Metal Hammer magazine comes with an exclusive Mastodon poster/piece of artwork (see below) courtesy of the band's longtime artist Paul Romano. The issue also comes packaged with Five Finger Death Punch dog tags, a "Hot List" CD featuring new tracks from Rob Zombie, Fear Factory, Ihsahn and more; and additional posters of Saxon and Disturbed.For more information, go to this location.
Romano is well known in the music scene, having created album artwork for bands like Chiodos, Trivium, Hate Eternal, Death By Stereo, The Acacia Strain, The Red Chord, Godflesh, Withered, Dälek and many more. While there is a common thread running throughout his work, he regularly jumps through styles and mediums to construct a tailor fit to the particular band (project). Romano's artwork, while extensively researched also promotes flow and accident in process so to keep them from being static. The end result usually produces a visceral, initial response that upon closer examination reveals layers of esoteric references and humor.
Paul grew up, lives and works in Philadelphia. He refers to his home sometimes as "the Heavy Metal Bed and Breakfast" and it has definitely served as such over the years to many a band.
