Dave was no smack addict
DROWNING POOL have publicly hit out at all the rumor-mongers who insisted that the death of their vocalist Dave Williams this summer was drug-related.
The 30-year-old Williams was found dead on the DROWNING POOL tour bus on August 14, while the band were touring as part of the US Ozzfest. An inquest into the singer's death in September concluded that the singer died from cardiomyopathy, a heart muscle disease for which he was never diagnosed. No traces of drugs were found in the vocalist's system, finally dispelling widespread speculation about the cause of his death.
"I'm glad that some people had to eat a bunch of shit on that," drummer Mike Luce told Kerrang! "We're a rock band so of course everyone was immediately assuming we're all a bunch of smack addicts. It wasn't fair to Dave's mom and dad, to him and to the rest of the band. Seeing people on our web site message boards slamming us was crazy, and I'm just glad that the truth came out. Anyone spreading those rumors can kiss my ass."
