I reckon 99 out of a 100 readers that come here know where this band has based its name on, but for that one sorry chap I will enlighten you all. Moby Dick is the whale from the Herman Melville classic from 1851 and Ahab is the guy chasing him. Seems like a very original source of inspiration, according to their bio and articles in several metal-magazines.

Little have they been paying attention to one of the greatest metal releases of all time (to me), Mastodon’s Leviathan. I just wanted to straighten that out, because all the magazines are acting like it’s some kind of brilliant original discovery to actually add some fantasy/litarature to the lyrics and music. PAY ATTENTION!
Well, about Ahab then. At first it didn’t appeal to me that much, but after a couple of listening sessions I can see the fun of it. These Germans produce dark, heavy, atmospheric, but most of all straightforward funeral doom, that will definitely appeal to any of the genre’s lovers. Good thing is that the vocals vary a lot in heaviness, which makes for the variation a lot.

The music (for those not into the genre) consists of slow, heavy soundscape-riffs that are backed up thin melodic guitar parts, circling in the higher tones of the instrument. While some guy is grunting something about whales and losing his mind, of course.
Well, as you can conclude that if you’re a fan of the genre, you’re already late with picking this up. People who are not into slow stuff know not to deal with this.
