The fact that Death Do Us Part hails from a state known for its hardcore could intent that they are a topclass band who confirm that New Jersey indeed has a great scene. On the other side, this could also mean that they are just ‘another’ group with an unoriginal sound, doing the same trick as many others in this hyped genre.

After a useless intro, the first real song ‘Beat’n To Your Grave’ immidiately kicks in with the first breakdowns. This was kinda unexpected and defenitly a cool start for a song. Unfortunately this was the only original part of the album, cause it’s pretty clear that we’re dealing with a band from the ‘just another group’-category. This record features all elements that most of the modern hardcore/metalcore bands use, such as the melodic guitars and the typical backing vocals who only resonance some words. Bad thing is the production, which is a bit flat. This resist them from sounding some more aggressive, something they obviously could be because of the amount of breakdowns.

The only song that differs from the rest is ‘In Rememberance’, in which two guest vocalists appear. Ryan, singer of A Sense Of Belonging did the clean chorus while Pat from Breath Of Silence helped out with growling and grunting to add some more power to the song. I’m not sure if it was a wise decision, cause Pat’s vocals sound a lot better then Death To Us Part’s own screamer Strum.

To give a conclusion, I’d like to point back to the intro. Like I mentioned, Death Do Us Part isn’t original or refreshing. But this record isn’t dragging the level of its genre down neither. They didn’t change the formula and so I think they released a fine record that fits perfectly for a New Jersey sceneband.
