For record companies these days, it is like humanity has entered the dark ages. So much music is being downloaded illegally, that it has become really hard to make a profit out of record sales. So what do you do to survive? Right, don’t change the winning team. It is probably why MTM Music signed Marys Creek, a traditional hard rock band from Sweden.

Marys Creek sound a little bit of everything: Deep Purple, Van Halen, Whitesnake, you name it. I must say thanks to the included info sheet for providing me these comparisons. How would I ever come up that ‘Down’ reminds me a lot of Whitesnake?  And that ‘Things What You Do’ reminds a lot of Black Label Society? It would’ve spent an eternity on the tip of my tongue.

Now enough of the sarcasm, let’s get to serious matters now. Marys Creek manage to create a buzz in the music world and get a lot of positive reviews. Their debut album Some Kind Of Hate is set to be released in March. After listening carefully to this record I come to the conclusion that it is a good record. The sound is good, it is a well-played record and the songs are pretty ok. And that is just what it is. Marys Creek isn’t bad, but they are just not the eight wonder of the world. No matter what superlatives are used in the info sheet or on the band’s website.
