After having released this EP earlier through Engineer Records, The Blackout Argument is now ready to unleash their renewed EP called Munich Angst upon the world. Since this EP will be re-released on April 27^th, together with their upcoming EP Munich Valor, I do wonder why we did not receive that part of the “Munich-double” as well. Hopefully it will come later so that I can check out the progression the band made. For now, we have to deal with 5-track EP Munich Angst. 

 

Right from the start it becomes obvious that this band likes to have its music with a high dose of melody. Although the foundation for every song can be found in the hardcore corner, it’s clear that that’s not what this band aims for. Therefore the description of melodic hardcore would probably fit this music best.

 

After getting used to their style, I came to the conclusion that I quite like this music. At first the melodic vocals scared me off a little bit but now that I’m a bit further ‘into’ the mini-album I understand that it actually fits the music very well. It sure doesn’t make this band stand out from other melodic hardcore/emo/screamo bands but as far as I’m concerned that doesn’t matter at all as long as the album itself knows how to convince you. Simple fact is, it does!

 

With catchy sing-along choruses The Blackout Argument knows how to hold my attention throughout the entire EP. Although they resemble a tiny little bit of Atreyu sometimes, I can definitely appreciate this piece of German art and I can only hope I will receive the second part of the “Munich-double” soon! All in all Bastardized Recordings did a fine job signing these guys. Again a good band on BR! Therefore I give my compliments to the band as well as their label.
