The Deep Eynde hails from Hollywood, California and have just released their latest album called Bad Blood. According to the biography that’s included Bad Blood is fast paced with sing along lyrics that will, without a doubt, make you run away from home, drop out of school or make you wish you had. Well let’s see if that’s right.

Because I work at a school in the age of 12 till 16/17 I thought by myself why don’t I give it a try. I carefully selected several students, which of course I didn’t like very much, and let them listen to the new album of The Deep Eynde. After a few days they started to complain why they had to listen to this album all the time. For the sake of the research I managed to hold on another week but that was as much as I could do. After this none of the students dropped out of school. So in the end I can conclude that Bad Blood has nothing to do with dropping out of school, even when it is said in the biography.

 

Now let’s get on to the serious part of this review. Bad Blood is a mixture of Rock ‘N Roll, Punk and Gothic. I believe some people like to call it horrorpunk form time to time. Personally I would file The Deep Eynde under music which I can’t get enough off. With this mixture of The Misfits, Damned, Ramones, Stooges, etc. they pulled of a great album. Especially the songs ‘We Don’t Care About You’, ‘Casualty Of Love’ and ‘Date From Hell’ are great.

 

In the end I can say that Bad Blood certainly isn’t a bad album. With several great songs they manage to grab your attention, it’s only a shame that after a while mediocrity strikes again. Especially near the end of the album I constant thinking about other things than The Deep Eynde.
