Grindcore is something that will always appease me. I do not care from which country, which musicians and what kind of instruments they are playing. I only care for hard blasting shit, preferably with pitch-shifted vocals. Well, thats exactly what Pencil Lead Syringe tries to do. They are from California and started up in 2005, so their band is relatively young. After some demos and EPs that can bite my garters and some line-up changes, they recorded their first real album called Suffocated And Embalmed.
This album is quite interesting, but not special. I was appeased by the vocals that reminded me of Dead Infection. The music is more a combination between Pig Destroyer and quite surprisingly our own Rectal Smegma. That means some bad ass grindcore mized with some lazy bumping gore grind.
Everything is in order, but the production is rather weak. I wasnt at all pleased by it, and I had to turn the volume quite to the max, to even recognize instruments. The music however is as honest as you can get. I like it nevertheless.
I cant be any more to the point on this one, it is a nice album, but I personally would not buy it. It does have its positive points, but I cant listen through the production. Nice try though!
