Devilish Impressions - Diabolicanos - Act III: Armageddon
Opening track ‘T.H.O.R.N.S.’ immediately brings the comparison with Behemoth to mind; its vocal intro is exactly like Nergal’s shout in ‘Slaves Shall Serve’. Also the rest of the album has similarities with Behemoth, such as some technical death metal outbursts as well as the ‘blackened touch’ that also has to do a lot with these Polish giants.
Though it’s not only blackened death metal that Devilish Impressions bring us to ears. The avant-garde description is definitely well-placed, since this band experiments a lot. Most of the tracks on Diabolicanos have a duration of five minutes or longer. We can hear influences from not only extreme metal but also from the darkside, due to atmospheric tunes from the keyboards which sometimes even creates a gothic-vibe of darkness and despair. Quazarre’s vocal style ranges from the typical black metal howl to any other form of using his throat, including clean vocals and whispering. All these ingredients make Devilish Impressions cross multiple genres.
Despite of the long tracks it’s not a record that soon becomes boring. Every song is as said really varying and the whole album is well produced. Devilish Impressions is therefore not your average underground black metal band, but an act that has a lot more to offer. Diabolicanos - Act III: Armageddon is atmospheric, full of tension and very professional.
