In March 2007 the German band It.Is.Imperative, from the city of Berlin, locked themselves up to record an EP. Together with engineer Matthias Schrei they finished a 6-track EP which was called Immer Weiter Und Weiter. About a year after its release in Germany GlassTone Records released it also in other countries. This release contains about 20 minutes of melodic / post-hardcore with lyrics in English and in German.

The presented post-hardcore has its fast segments, but there are also many slower parts in It.Is.Imperative’s music. You clearly can hear that every member of the group can handle his instrument very well, but I can’t suppress the feeling that this must be a band that has to be watched live before judging them.

The screams of Constantin are very good and also the semi-spoken parts are contributing a lot to the atmosphere of the songs, but in a sweaty club with 200 fans, who all know the words and are stagediving like animals, the tracks would work out better I guess. The lyrics may be great for German people, but for a foreigner they aren’t really interesting. The songs lose power, because of the language and luckily enough the first couple of songs are sung in English.

If you like melodic hardcore you should definitely try to see these guys live. Immer Weiter Und Weiter will probably end up in a CD-rack though and if you’re not dusting off your CDs regularly you’ll probably forget about this one.
