Murderplan - Let's Roll

60%
Sweden must have more death metal bands than the African jungle has Silverbacks by now. All recognisable by their typical Swedish sound, yet few really managed to make a lasting impact on the metal scene compared to the number of them out there. Murderplan is here with their debut album Let’s Roll to expand the scene even more.

While a lot of the (even smaller) Swedish death metal bands immediately burst out of your speakers with great force (read an awesome production), Murderplan fails. The production is quite weak unfortunately. The style they play is unmistakeably Swedish death metal, yet it is spiced up with a lot of heavy metal solos and black metal vocals. Too bad that these two things remain quite monotonous, just like the music in average.

It’s not that Murderplan is a horrible band, but the overload of bands from this country in this genre is so great that I don’t think they’ll be able to keep their head above the crocodile-infested water. Trying to make it happen with those heavy metal solos and (quite annoying I might add) black metal vocals didn’t save the day. Neither did the fact that their lyrics address world politics or that two thirds of their bio emphasizes this. Dust yourself of and try again, Aaliyah would say.
