Lamb of God - Walk With Me In Hell
Lamb of God surprised fans and enemies with their (excellent!) Killadelphia DVD, which got famous for showing the not so nice parts of being a band on the road. The ‘Glasgow Fight’ was one of the highlights, and showed singer Randy getting beaten up by guitarist Mark Morton. LoG got acclaimed for showing us the downsides of being on the road with eachother for a long time. The band’s newest DVD is ‘Walk With Me Hell’, which chronicles the tour in support of their Sacrament album. Does it have new insights in our favorite ‘New Wave of American Heavy Metal’ band?

‘Walk With Me In Hell’ consists of 2 DVDs. The ‘WWMIH’ documentary on disc 1 one clocks in at a nice 2 hours, and we see the band touring mostly Europe, Australia and Japan in their ‘Sacrament’ support tour. Next to the ‘backstage’ antics and Australian zoo visits we get cuts from festivals as Graspop, Wacken and Rock am Ring.

We see the band at one of the turning points in their career; basically ‘breaking through’ in the metal world (and doing ‘boring’ promo days). This time it doesn’t get to fist fighting, but we still get an honest look and the documentary doesn’t shy away from showing us the bad times as well. Many props go to director Doug Spangenberg (who was also responsible for ‘Killadelphia’ and ‘The Making of Sacrament’). The cuts and edit-work are top notch, resulting into a very viewable (music) documentary.

Disc 2 has (among other things) their excellent show from the Download Festival (in front of 70.000+ fans!), an uncensored video of ‘Redneck’ (including it’s respective behind the scenes segment). Next to this, you`ll also find some deleted scenes of the main documentary, and most of them make you wonder why they got cut in the first place since a lot of them are up there regarding funniness. The mini-documentairy ‘The Making of Sacrament’ is also included, resulting in a well rounded package that covers the highs and lows of Lamb of God during the 3 years since the writing and touring in support of ‘Sacrament’.

If you are a metal fan,‘Walk With Me In Hell’ is definitely worth getting. I would still go for ‘Killadelphia’ if I had to pick one of the two, but ‘WWMIH’ is a fine addition to the already extremely high standard Lamb of God has set for themselves.
