Crown The Lost - Blind Faith Loyalty

Crown The Lost hails from the barren wastelands of Pittsburgh. They’ve just released their sophomore album called Blind Faith Loyalty. Their debut album called Reverence Dies Within was released three years ago. Back then it really didn’t impress me but that was also because of the lousy production.
From the beginning of the album the pedal goes immediately to the metal, and with ‘Defame The Hypocrites’ the start of the album is a fact. After listening to the first song for a couple of minutes I remember what the other problem was with Crown The Lost. I really didn’t like the high pitched vocals. But since there’s much more to an album than just the vocals I bravely continue with this important task.
The band pulls out everything to impress the listener. Most of the time you're listening to melodic death metal but from time to time there are influences from thrash and even some metalcore that adds some breakdowns from time to time. So don’t get fooled by the thrash label that’s put on the band. With all these musical influences you’d expect an album with great variety. Well sadly enough all the songs remind me of each other and there are really no songs that stand out from the rest.
In the end I’m still not impressed by Crown The Lost with this new album. Although the production is much better compared to their debut I can’t say the same about their songs. I’d say make up your mind about the musical taste and start building at a sound with a face of its own.
