Cracker - Sunrise In The Land Of Milk And Honey
Cracker has been around for ages appearantly. I've only known them for a couple of years, since their latest album Greenland. It took 'em three years to come up with new material even though they say (and I quote:) “We weren’t kicking back on an island in the Caribbean, waiting for the muse to hit us. We got down to work, found the punk and glam rock in our blood and woke up to Sunrise In The Land Of Milk And Honey." Some would actually prefer islands, coconuts and hot women with cocktails, but some things are worth skipping that to make music. And it was definitely worth it as far as this record goes!
With guest apearances by John Doe and Counting Crows' Adam Duritz, you kinda know what sort of music Cracker produces. Easy listening alternative rock. Sunrise In The Land Of Milk And Honey is a travelling-album, a sort of gran turismo-record (If these expressions did not exist, they are hereby patented. Dictionary, anyone?). The type of record that works fantastically when driving your car somewhere hot, especially if you have a convertible. The album is well produced, well played, and the lyrics are very nice as well. Personal best on the album is the title track...just put it on and drift off, it's great.
So, if you're into alternative rock and don't really care if heavily bearded men call you a pussy, go get this record. If you're not into alternative rock, leave it. And if you really care about heavily bearded men calling you a pussy, you probably in fact are a pussy. Cheers!
