Indukti - Idmen
Indukti is an instrumental prog rock act from Poland. They’ve released their first album in 2005, entitled S.U.S.A.R., which was received with raving responses according to the bio. Four years later the band delivers the follow-up, Idmen. Let’s see what they’ve concocted this time.

There is a passage in the bio that I would like to quote in order to describe these guys, for I just can’t find a better way to do it. ‘Indukti’s world mixes prog rock, heavy metal, classical and world music, ethnic sounds from other cultures and even pop and avant-garde references.’ Quite mouthful, yet pinpointed to the max. The five members of this band have a huge range of influences which they managed to blend into one prog rock sound which makes one think of acts like We Insist!, Sleepytime Gorilla Museum, Circle and other ultra eclectic music. The vast selection of styles make for a highly dynamic listen, and because it is all executed by very skilled musicians you get a hell of a ride when listening to Idmen. Very high quality stuff, as you can conclude.

For this record the band decided to make use of three guest vocalists, namely Nils Frykdahl (Sleepytime Gorilla Museum), Maciej Taff (Rootwater) and Michael Luginbuehl (Prisma). This means there are three songs with vocals on Idmen, which is a plus for the variety of the record but it sort of disturbs the delicate yet complicated atmosphere Indukti exhales. Yet it forms no threat to the quality of the music at all. Overall I’d say that this is a band for the most open minded of rockers and metalheads, and also for people far beyond these categories. A rich and compelling record for people who like to be challenged musically.
