Words That Go Unspoken Deeds That Go Undone just pushed me deeper into my chair when  I pressed the play button of my stereo. It begins quite impressing. Catchy thrash riffs for a few seconds, then a grindcore like part, after that it turns in something more gothic/doom like metal. Aggressive passages are change into slow melodic guitar licks, screaming guitars alternate with clean guitar parts. What a mix. Just like the vocals, one moment you hear some goregrind grunts, the next seconds your hear a black metal scream and the you hear clean vocals.

 

I must say I’ve never heard a cd like Words That Go Unspoken Deeds That Go Undone before. Akercocke really unleashed a record that will not get boring to me. It has so much variety. It is influenced by so many bands. Bands that come up in my mind during listen this record are Slayer, My Dying Bride,  Deicide, Morbid Angel,  Mayhem and Fates Warning. In the song Shelter from the Sand, which is also my favourite song on this record, Akercocke treats you one a some like industrial synthesiser like trip. And another thing you would not expect is the folk-like song Lex Talionis which completes the record.

 

Not only the songs are great, but the production is awesome as well. It really fits to the atmosphere Akercocke creates. If no other band releases a better album this year Words That Go Unspoken Deeds That Go Undone will be number 1 on my list of best albums of 2005.
