Day 2 - More metal but a cloudy day
The second day of the festival was warm but cloudy. Carn was sleeping a lot but there were some great bands playing this day. You can read our report here.

SOILWORK

First band of day 2. I didnt sleep the whole night, so I decided to watch Soilwork play from a distance. The sound was pretty good from my spot, and Bjorn Strid's vocals were good as well. I remember a show where it seemed that the guy couldnt sing in key at all. The new material is a great addition to the existing songs, and I hope that drummer Dirk Verbeuren remains on the rumming throne for the band, the guy is exactly what the Soilwork "sound" needs.

SLAYER

Ah, the allmighty Slayer. From the distance I was watching they could have been cardboard imitations, but luckily I saw Kerry King move a bit and Dave Lombardo pounding some drumheads. As usual, mediocre live show, but the songs they play weigh up for that. Cool thing that Lombardo extended that doublebass fill during Angel of Death. The guy is still a master in his genre.

IN FLAMES

The best show of Day 2. The sound was great, altough the vocals could be a bit louder. I totally forgot the setlist but some old stuff got played. A very cool part was when Anders Friden left the stage to get a drink; He asked a fan to come on stage and sing the song. The dude actually did a decent job. He was off-key all the time but he knew the song! The band itself seemed to have a really fun time, and I have to say that In Flames is getting better every time I see them.

SLIPKNOT

Still not my thing. The show-factor still makes this work, but musically I dont really care anymore for Slipknot. Corey Taylor is a great frontman tho, and I think its safe to say that the people who were there to see Slipknot had a great time. The sound was a bit messy sometimes, and Joey Jordison should practice a bit more because I heard some fuckups that shouldnt be there. I left after a few songs to drink some beer at my tent.
