Day 1 - Wednesday August 10th
After waking up on the first day everybody was already broken, now that is the festival spirit. Some of us were sick, others just physically tormented. And for the people who haven’t been here, this is a normal feeling and you have keep it up for seven more days!

We started walking around the festival and being metal we went to the Hammerworld stage where a to us familiar band was playing. Unfortunatly, we weren't able to see the full Casket Garden (H) show. The band's mix of fast thrashmetal mixed up with some death and more melodic parts still sounded as tight as it did last year. I’m looking forward to their new record because the band is a quality live metal act.

Because we are also curious to other genres we went to Morcheeba (UK) for some electronic pop. Arriving at the main stage we witnessed a magical show, the vibe in the crowd was amazing and the people were dancing everywhere on the huge field in front of this stage. It was clear the band was enjoying the attention and took some time to thank the audience for a great experience.

The headliner on the Hammerworld stage was Obituary for the first day. The Death Metal band reunited 1,5 year ago and they released their new album ‘Frozen in Time’ 2 months back and are touring for their new effort ever since. Metalrage witnessed their show on Dynamo and once again we could see the band actually froze in time, they still know what to do to make people enjoy their performance; because when the band started playing the people in front of the venue were head banging like hell; no pit in Hungary people. The band was giving the Hungarian people a good show but the crowd only reacted to older hits. The new album was unfamiliar to the people over here. For the rest the show was good and tight, too bad one of the guitar players was constantly smoking and this is a sign of disinterest. After finishing their set with Slowly We Rot the band left the stage leaving a satisfied crowd.

On this first day more than 100 acts played on the Sziget festival and 45000 people were watching the acts. Headlining acts were Sean Paul, Youssou N’Dour and Obituary.
