Day 3 - Sunday August 21th
Third and final day, many acts and long Alpha day. After three days of partying it is all over again and what did we see on the last day?

Korn – Alpha (Buzzin Hornet)
After a disappointed set on Sziget the weekend before I watched the show again. This time the sound was better than before. Even outside the tent everything was ok, not great but acceptable. The set was shorter than Sziget but I would do the same thing if I was Korn and played at 14.45 on the last day. Lowlands doesn’t want Korn to be headlining a stage and maybe this is a good thing, Korn is still going down.

Alkaline Trio– Charlie (Napalm Lex)
Now here is something that makes me sad. A bunch of idiots with happy hip outfits that look depressed. That play modern and trendfull punkrock. With no soul, with no concience. Punk for highschool kids that love their mommy. Punk for pretty little girls. No danger. No objections. Fascist sell out kiddy punk. Fuck off.

Queens Of The Stone-Age - Alpha (Napalm Lex)
I have given up on the Queens a while ago. When Oliveri left, I had a faint feeling that the new album would be a bummer. But it wasn't. It was, and is, awfull.
I won't whine about Lullabies To Paralyse. Because for about 50 minutes in the Alpha tent, Josh Homme had me imagine that awfull cd had never been recorded. Most of the setlist consisted of the first three albums, with the epic Songs For The Deaf as the most dominant.
He actually impressed me and the entire audience with astonishing recreations of Song For The Dead (without Lanegan alas), Song For The Deaf (dreamy and dreary as ever) and No One Knows. Add that up with Avon and Regular john and I just have to admit that I still love Queens Of The Stone Age. Even though they broke up with me a year ago.

Incubus – Alpha (Buzzin Hornet)
You have to love Incubus to appreciate their show, luckily enough I kind of like the band an witnessed once again a magnificent show. Since Incubus fucked up their set back in 2002; in 2005 they managed to show the right thing, the set list consisted out of all the hits I wanted to hear (except Drive, Are You In, Warning and Pardon Me but you can’t get a full set) and everybody around me in front of the stage shouted the lyrics together with Brandon.

For me this was one of the better acts on this edition since other acts got cancelled. Incubus is a great band with great songs and they know how to play a magical show; And they did just that on Lowlands 2005.

Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds – Grolsch (Napalm Lex)
The right band at the right place, that has to be Nick Cave at Lowlands 2005. A nice and dark way to end a fantastic festival. Even though ol'Napalm was down to his last energy straws, he still was captivated by Cave and his army of musicians. A stage crammed with 2 drummers, back ground singers, and a setting sun.
Cave walked the stage like a gospel priest telling his morbid and melancholic stories of love, murder and dark souls. His head seems to be hurting like he's On The Mercy Seat. But he asks if you Do Love Him and cries for Deanna in Tupelo.
One of the most atmospheric performances Lowlands has ever seen, without a doubt. And twenty minutes longer than planned. Epic.

Foo Fighters – Alpha (Buzzin Hornet)
Foo Fighters 2003, rock, jamming, energy. That is what I remember of 2 years ago. That was one big party, this time the band just released their new album which features some slow songs. And this was noticeable on the set, no jamming this time but ballads during a Foo Fighters live set. And believe me, this sure isn’t a bad thing.

The band still got its power, when Dave Growhl invites everybody back stage (even telling the security everybody can pass) after the concert and gives away their Hotel the tent explodes. Maybe not a wise thing to do but this is what makes the Foo Fighters. Always ready to party! As a final act Lowlands needs something heavier, they did this in 2003 but not this year. A small disappointment!
