Xystus.Shattered, Sk;rl - De Groene Engel, Oss
It was a quite hot day for music, but that didn’t mind for Xystus, Shattered and Sk;rl. 3 local bands in a quite nice gig.
Xystus:
The honour of opening was laid aside for Xystus, a prog-power band from Den Bosch. They started quite strong with Prophecy. All together it sounded quite nice, but with the stress of recording a video clip for their tour in Egypt, they actually played quite bad. The crowd didn’t mind it though, and 45 minutes of nice power metal with progressive influences filled the room. Songs like The Everlasting Burden, Forgotten Years and Shadow Of Today didn’t actually sound that bad! It was quite clear Xystus didn’t have their day but the show was quite nice though.
Shattered:
This hardcore band from Oss had a home match. The gig was in The Groene Engel in Oss, so they had a excited crowd. The setting for their gig was nice, but the gig itself wasn’t that strong. They surely had some nice songs, but it just didn’t attract my attention. The crowd seemed a little sceptical about Shattered, but after some songs the flame started to burn. I actually left the place after a few songs. Nice band for real dedicated hardcore lovers, but just not for me.
Due to circumstances I had to leave early and couldn’t watch the show of Sk;rl, which I regret, because Sk;rl has the reputation of giving away nice shows. Next time then.
