Veteran San Francisco Bay Area metallers Testament will take part in a signing session for their brand new record, "The Formation of Damnation", on Sunday, May 18 at the Hot Topic of Lakewood Center Mall (317 Lakewood Center) in Lakewood, California beginning at 3:00 p.m.

"The Formation of Damnation" has registered the following first-week chart positions around the globe:

Germany: #15
Austria: #23
Norway: #29
European Top 100: #30
Sweden: #32
Switzerland: #33
Usa: #59
Denmark: #90
Canada: #94
Uk: #186

Chuck Billy (vocals): "It's nice to see heavy metal make a statement in such a pop climate."

Eric Peterson (guitar): "We are just stoked to have the record out finally, thanks to all the fans who went out pick it up so eagerly, and if you haven't yet, off you go."

Alex Skolnick (guitar): "While chart positions are not our priority, we are nonetheless thrilled and would like to thank everyone who is supporting Testament in 2008. Cheers!"

An e-card for "The Formation of Damnation" can be accessed at this location.

The band recorded "The Formation of Damnation" in part with producer Andy Sneap (Machine Head, Exodus, Arch Enemy, Nevermore) at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley, California.

Testament frontman Chuck Billy revealed during an interview with the nationally syndicated rock radio show "The Tour Bus" (web site) that two of the band's songs - "Electric Crown" and "Souls of Black" - will be featured in next Rock Band video game. No further details are currently available.

Testament will be the featured artist on Mtv for an entire week beginning May 19 as part of the channel's "52/52" campaign. Performances ? including footage shot on April 2 on the Alcatraz Island (more commonly known simply as Alcatraz) and video material that was filmed at the April 6 concert at the B.B. King Blues Club & Grill in New York City ? along with interviews, and behind-the-scenes footage will air throughout the week.

Mtv's "52/52" is a brand new way for the channel to give unprecedented exposure to unsigned artists, indie bands, and established acts on major labels in a completely new and innovative way. Mtv handpicks one band/artist per week for the entire year and gives them the equivalent of roughly 11 hours of on-air commercial time per week on the channel.
