Grayson Manor - Children Of The Manor
Classical metal, that is the way our chief-editor described this cd. Classical metal I thought, well that would sound like After Forever, Rhapsody, Labyrinth, or Therion
Well classical metal would be an appropriate name, but in a very different way. The first song 'Set you free' begins with a church organ and a little choir singing “hallelujah” then I really thought about the names I mentioned before. But after a few seconds it’s very clear I was totally wrong. It is hard rock like Motley Crüe and Skid Row. Ah, that is what my chief-editor meant. Well, it sure did not sound like I expected, but it sure does kick ass.
The songs sound very strong and really sound like they would have been written in the 80’s. Great groovy hard rocks songs. I guess Guns n’ Roses must have been great inspirers for Grayson Manor, that is very obvious. For example the 2nd song 'New Generation' really reminds me of 'Wwelcome to the Jungle'.
Many refrains remind me of the early days of Bon Jovi, before they forgot how to rock.
The songs all sound very nice and have loads of catchy riffs. Children Of The Manor is really a feel good album with a lot of energy. This is music that makes you sing along. The vocals are really good, and it really is not strange Brad Cox received international press from his audition for Velvet Revolver.

The production is great as well, it really sounds like the sound used in the 80’s. Now you perhaps think the band members must be old rockers with an average age of 50, but these guys are between 16 and 25 years old.

So if you are looking for some good old school hard rock, this is the shit. Pure hard rock like the big names of the hard rock history used to play. As an addition to this album Grayson Manor also added the complete Back On The Rock E.P. to the tracklist.
