On The Last Day - Meaning In The Static
To be honest I’m not really into punk music. On The Last Day is described as metalcore. Well, I believe it’s more a mix of punk with some metal riffs in it. Not really a combination that sounds cool to me.
On their website you can watch a promo video with questions & answers. Here they say that they listened to bands like The Offspring, Greenday and Presidents Of The United States when they were young. That punk influence is something you can definitely hear. Their music contains a lot of punk up-tempo rhythms with repeated catchy guitar riffs.
I don’t know if that’s normal in the USA but I find it a bit strange. Though you see it more often these days. Guys dressed in black, wearing black makeup, painted their fingernales black and trying to look evil on band photos. I thought that was for Goths only. Guess that’s also a hype in the punk/emo/metal scene. For me it only makes it more difficult to take it serious. Especially when they are all dressed and look the same.
Though it is not my style, they do rock. It’s very catchy and flows naturally. If you’re a fan of Aiden or AFI and more bands like that, check it out. Then you probably love it.
