I:Scintilla - Havestar
The music this Illinois-based quartet makes is said to appeal to fans of Evanescence, Curve, Theatre Of Tragedy, Nine Inch Nails etc. And to be honest, I’m really not into those bands. ‘Goth Metal Industrial Pop’ is the so-called genre they play. Sure! Why not? But I’m a bit confused by the fact that this band is called a quartet (more than once) in their bio. Fact is, there’s five people in the booklet, as you can see in the line-up as well. Could be just me but where I live a quartet consists of four people…

I am confused. I am flabbergasted. I am surprised. I am a metalfan. And although I can definitely appreciate non-metal bands as well, I’m not working at Metalrage.com to write reviews about non-metal/rock CDs.

So, I could continue to write a whole story about this album. But I simply don’t see a reason to do that. This is just hilarious! Nothing, and I mean really NOTHING AT ALL, in this music reminds me of metal, rock or even poprock. Nothing at all! This is pure dance music! Ok, there’s a link to rock/metal music; the guitars. But really, this link is way too small.

I do appreciate this music. But to be honest, I’m kinda speechless, I haven’t got a clue of what to write about this. This simply ain’t music that belongs at the Metalrage.com website. Therefore I’d only recommend this EP (with a lot of mixes on it by the way) to that one guy who’s looking for some dance music on our site. Congratulations, you’ve found yourself a dance album on a metal website!

Sorry to all of you who expected a little bit more information about his album but just imagine dance beats combined with guitars, some electronic sounds every now and then and the standard female vocals which you hear often in this kind of music.

I hope it's just me being very stupid not hearing anything metal in this music otherwise I'd recommend this band to seek an other audience.
