2nd District - Emotional Suicide
2nd District is a punk band that comes from the town of Bochum in Germany. A couple years ago they released one of the better punk records of the last years under the name District. But the band fell apart and stopped playing shows. Luckily a couple of months later they started again. They had changed the band name to 2nd District to reflect the change in line-up. Now their new album Emotional Suicide, is in the stores, and they are ready to tour Europe till the end of 2006.

When I first put Emotional Suicide in my cd player it was like time went back 20 to 30 years. Not that I’m that old but they really reminded me of all the 70s and 80s punk I have heard through the years. You can really hear these guys grew up with that music. With some catchy sing-a-long songs like ‘High Society’, 2nd District really knows how to party. But as the name of the album says there are also some more emotional songs on this record as well.

I feel like the punk scene really needed a record like this. Especially with all those same sounding pop/punk bands around. So grab yourself a beer and relive the old times with 2nd District.
