Rain - Stronger
Personally I find adult orientated rock (AOR for short) a bit of a nasty term. Sounds like there’s hardcore cuntslamming and cockgagging involved or something. Contrary to my impression, pornography has nothing to do with this type of music. Rain is an AOR band, which means they make rock for the people that saw the rise of everything that inspired what us youngsters love. Let’s see what their album Stronger has for us.

This is their second effort, although they have been in existence since 1997. They had some problems finding a stable line-up, and, a common problem with people at this age, the bandmembers have more to do than just pursue their dream in music. Nevertheless I have this piece of rock in my Cd-player, and I suddenly feel a craving for tight pants, albums on vinyl, awfully horrible haircuts and your basic sex, drugs and rock ‘n roll.

Why this happened? Well, the more I listened to Rain, the more I got sucked into the past. These guys create some great old-skool rock music, with some interesting angles and enough variation to it. Of course after I’ve heard the entire record, I cannot press play again, that’s what you get when you’re a metalhead. But I definitely hear the quality of these golden oldies. Unfortunately I do sense a Bon Jovi vibe over the entire album, especially with the ballads, and I frigging hate Bon Jovi. Also I feel a bit like I'm listening to my Metal Christmas album my parents gave me once, but that's better than sensing Bon Jovi I guess...

There’s definitely some good stuff for the old rockers among us. Those with big moustaches, Black Sabbath tattoo’s and torn denim pants. Or with a wife, children, dog, lawnmower, waterbed and a slowly growing bald scalp. If you feel like you’re one of those, be sure to give Rain’s new album a try.
