Stockholm Syndrome - History Has Taught Us NothingRoosendaal based Noise/Hardcore formation Stockholm Syndrome have been around for quite a while, and have released a number of good EPs. 2004 brings us their first full-length album : History Has Taught Us Nothing And an interesting release it has become. Filled with interesting breaks, turns and twists, it sounds like an interesting combination of Snapcase versus At The Drive-In. Maybe added up with a certain degree of Glassjaw here and there. If one takes ones time to sit down and really take a listen to this album, one can really enjoy the melodies that flow over the midtempo rithmics. The only thing that really breaks the music down (just a minor bit) is the monotone vocals. But rest asure, this all is saved by the music that lies beneath. Personally, I'm not a too big a fan of this kind of hardcore, but it got me right by the bollocks here and there, and that goes to show that there is enough to hear on 'History Has Taught Us Nothing'. Even though this cd doesn't really give me shivers down my spine, and it even made me lose attention once or twice, it does sound profecional. It's a talented band, and songwriting is not yet the best department of this band, but some tracks sound like absolute winners. These guys are definitly going to get even further than they allready have come, if they only stick to the course they've chosen on this cd. The way to really enjoy a band such as this, I think, is to see them perform. So keep an eye open for them in the tourlists.
