Enforsaken - The Forever Endeavor
I came across this album a little while ago, when a friend of mine bought their previous album. I went looking and found this album. The band Im discussing now is Enforsaken, which create a quite Children Of Bodom like style of music. Lets hear what they create with this new album The Forever Endeavor, brought out on Olympic Records. The first song instantly determines the style of the entire album. Called Tales Of Bitterness, this song reminds me of the faster Children of Bodom songs like Hatebreeder. Traces from bands like Dark Tranquillity and Norther are also included in this song, which by the way ends with a fabulous guitar solo. The title track is a more ambient song which isnt fully blasting, but more slow. The guitar effects here remind me of the more progressive bands like Tomorrows Eve and Dream Theater, but the technique in the songs is not as high as in the previously named bands. Back to blasting with A Break From Tradition, which is a more thrashy song, which strongly reminded me to Detonation and I.N.R.I. The next songs arent that refreshing and the album continues with a fine mix of these previously named bands. The song Poison Me was a little surprise though, with the spherical bass solo, and the hacking guitar riffs. A high octane headbanging song with a solo that surely will be remembered. I cannot say I was highly impressed by this album, but at certain points it drew my attention and that says enough for an album in this music style. Since the commercial success of bands like Bodom and Dark Tranquillity, these kind of bands have been popping out of the ground like toadstools and most of them are just a pathetic rip-off of the original masters. Enforsaken is not like these pretenders, but actually have something to add to their music. If you like melodical death metal, then give this album a chance, as its a quite fine album for ambience.
